LIST OF VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES
□ Co-Chair Teacher/Staff Hospitality—Assist in events for MJ Staff including Back to School Breakfast, Holiday Luncheon and Teacher Appreciation Week.
□ Jordanaire – Produce monthly e-newsletter with school calendar, event highlights, and articles from PTA and school staff.
□ Room Parent – Attend beginning of school year meeting with Room Parent Coordinator and principal. Coordinate 2 classroom parties (Halloween and Valentine’s Day) and additional classroom needs.
□ Room Parent Coordinator – Coordinate meeting at beginning of school year with principal and all room parents to provide them with information concerning classroom parties, snack requirements and any additional classroom support.
□ Communications – Communications Committee maintains the PTA website, Facebook and social media. This committee also produces the Jordanaire, our monthly PTA newsletter with school and PTA events highlighted. New this year, the Communications Committee is responsible for the MJ School Directory!
□ Fundraising – Assist in raising required funds to support MJ PTA’s budget needs. Fundraising Committee may raise money through 2 fundraiser events which may include No Stress Fundraiser, Parent’s Night Out, Bingo Nights, any other approved fundraising ideas. Fundraising also includes Spirit Wear, Dine & Share, Amazon Smile, and/or Grants.
□ Membership – Promote PTA membership among parents and staff. Membership also acts as a Welcoming Committee to help ease transition of new students and families into MJ.
□ MJ Cares – Provide support to MJ families and community in various life events. Assist with community closet, winter/toy collection, spring/Easter collection, Thanksgiving dinner collection and other events.
□ PTEC (Parent Teacher Education Committee) – Act as a resource for MJ parents and teachers by providing education/resources regarding education & curriculum, act as liaison between parents & teachers at MJ. Opportunities may include parent education nights, iPad/Chromebook/technology support, and family reading nights.
□ S.P.A.R.K. (Special Education Parents Accessing Resources & Knowledge) – Provide resources and networking opportunities for families whose children learn differently or have special needs.
□ Teacher/Staff Hospitality – Help with events for MJ staff including Back to School Breakfast, Holiday Luncheon, and Teacher Appreciation Week.
□ 6th Grade Committee – Volunteer to assist with 6th grade events usually including, 6th grade breakfast, service projects, lock-in, end of year carnival and other activities. Limited to 6th grade parents.
□ Birthday Book Club – Coordinate gift book donations to the Resource Center by parents to commemorate children’s birthdays.
□ Book Fair (Fall & Spring) – Help with set up, tear down, preview days, sales and more!
□ Holiday Gift Shoppe – Provide an opportunity for students to shop for holiday gifts for their families.
□ Mini Courses – Coordinate and or assist with Mini Courses. Mini Courses are enrichment activities for students during the winter months.
□ Read to Succeed – Coordinate the Read to Succeed program. A program that encourages students to read for fun. Students who complete six hours of recreational reading earn a free ticket to Six Flags.
□ Reflections – Coordinate or assist MJ student participation in the National PTA themed contest to encourage students in music, language arts, photography and fine arts.
□ Run Club – Join us to create a positive running experience for everyone. Help coordinate or supervise young runners this Spring. You do not have to be a runner to help out.
□ Talent Show (Spring) – Join our team and help showcase our talented students! There are many opportunities that include, organizing the show, assisting during auditions and rehearsals, creating the program, stage decoration/props, sound, lighting, and much more!
□ Veteran’s Day – Provide assistance to Ms. Clarke during Veteran’s Day program.
Yearbook – Provide assistance to School Yearbook Staff to produce yearbook
□ Back to School Social – Help coordinate or assist in Back to School Social, an event to promote family and faculty involvement to kick off the upcoming year.
□ Dad’s and Donuts – Help with set up, serving and clean up, typically a Spring event.
□ Family Science Night – Help us organize and facilitate an exciting night of science with both demonstrations and hands on experiments.
□ Fun Fair – Coordinating, planning, set up, tear down, running games, distributing food/prizes and more. Consider helping PTA with this popular family event!
□ Kindergarten Registration and Social – Coordinate and/or assist with Kindergarten welcome party at North Park before the first day of school and help facilitate the MJ Kindergarten registration as designated by the district.
□ Moms and Muffins – Help with set up, serving and clean up, typically a Fall event.
